The Camargue is located between the two arms of the main Rhône River delta and the Mediterranean Sea. Its area exceeds 1453 km² and 131 km² have been classed as a nature reserve and 300km² as a regional park.
The whole area is divided into 3 parts:
- La Petite Camargue on the west side of the Petit-Rhône River, where is located the Clos des Américains vineyard, - La Grande Camargue, between the branches of the Rhône River, - Le Plan du Bourg, on the east side of the Grand-Rhône River.
On this wild territory, there are about 250 species of birds including the more well-known: the pink flamingo. Fauna and flora live in perfect harmony: camargue horses and camargue bulls walk like wild animals between huge lands and lagoons.
Lands, brine ponds, lakes, marshlands, reeds, salt pans, rice fields … La Camargue is a wonderful natural patchwork of wildlife.
