The Clos des Américains vineyard extends over a little more than 20 hectares and dominates the ponds of la Petite Camargue.
Vines are on average 30 years old and they are enjoying top conditions for wine growing thanks to the mild Mediterranean climate: A soil of rolled pebbles, the mistral, a generous period of sunshine and the humidity generated by the ponds of the Camargue which is in front of the vineyard, allow the production of premium wines.
The vineyard is being restructured: improvement of the trelissing, change of the mode of culture (a special machine ploughing between and under the vines is now being used), removing of the unwanted new shoots is mechanical and tilling), pull out of vines which have not enough interest in order to plant white grape varieties which are lacking in the vineyard and an increase of the planting density. All these measures are intended to improve the quality of the wines and minimize the use of chemical products.
The first vintage of our red wine: “Songes de Bacchus" and of our rosé wine: “Cuvée n°1” have been bottled this year, in 2009.
